The 2011 season was my first season ever racing and what a great experience it was. We started off the season with one car. My brother, Kyle, and I alternated as driver every week. With no prior experience, we came into the season with only the knowledge we had read online. As the season started, everyone in the club was extremely helpful with their suggestions on car setup all the way to driving techniques. The first few races were somewhat of a struggle with the number 11 car. It started out with issues with the charging issues. Once that problem was solved we experienced problems with the fuel system. The season was then going great until one on the motor mount tabs broke off the frame in the end of July. To avoid this problem in the future we had the car modified to run a motor plate. With lots of help from my uncle and cousin we were able to have the car back on the track by the next race. In the beginning of August we purchased the 66 car which I am the current driver of. We had our challenges with the 66 car as well relating to car setup but eventually started to get it figured out. In October we traveled down to Peoria, IL for the Al Archdale Jr. Memorial race. This was by far my favorite race. I was able to figure out the lines in the heat race but due missing the gearing I had to go to the B-main. The B-main that night was my best race all season. I was able to make several passes but unfortunately missed the feature by one position. I have definitely discovered a new passion but the part I enjoyed the most about racing is how close it has brought our family together. We finished the season off on a high note and are looking forward to continuing it in the 2012 season.
